It seems that I've become a grumpy old whinge-bag lately. I do apologise.

I mentioned a while ago that the road had been visited by the National Gas Alliance.  They dug a hole.  That gradually extended to become a half-mile long trench.

Then they filled it in.

Then they came back and dug it up again.

It's insane outside our house.

The National Grid Gas Alliance appear to be undertaking a full-scale invasion.

Fortunately, we are huddled away  in a little corner all our own, somewhat shielded from the insanity by a short stone wall and very tall conifers.  Tall conifers aren't popular, generally, but recently I've found them to be A Very Good ( Read more... )

A blue van bearing the legend  'National Grid - Gas Alliance' (is it me, or does that sound like it should be in an SF film?) and with a mini-digger on tow has just left.

They've left  a big 'ole in the pavement.  And removed part of the flower bed belonging to the pub.

Hmmm.  No idea why yet - more as this story develops.
